.................NEXT MONTHS CHARITY GIG at Elland Cricket Club is almost sold out. I'm really looking forward to this and with the ticket money sold and a raffle on the night we should raise quite a few quid for PARKINSONS UK. It's always a pleasure to work with Archie, Chris and Ben as well. Good times.
.................2012 THE END OF THE WORLD HAPPENS AGAIN NEXT YEAR!! So with that in mind i'm going to stick to it this year. My new years resolution is 1080p so when you see me next i'll look damn sharp!! Happy new year folks, hope its your best ever.
.................ARAB SPRING SEEMS to have been just the start of a long year of protest with people crying out and even dying for basic human rights in Egypt, Syria and Libya, a better way out of crippling national debt in greece, an end to corrupt, unrestrained corporate control of america and here in britain, newer trainers from J.D.Sports for our chavs, our poor, dickensian chavs. I wonder how many of them had Che Guevara tattoos?
.................SUMMER'S HERE AND THE TIME IS RGHT FOR DANCING IN THE STREET.it doesn't matter what school of dance you come from, break, tap or morris, dance is the language of satan. It encourages people to fornicate, especially morris dancing. "What's so wrong about sleeping with morris dancers?" i hear you type. Well i'll tell you, the human race didn't get where it is today by fornicating, and where is the human race? China mostly and you don't see them morris dancing! If they did, they would never have got that wall finished. Ever see a chinese bricklayer in morris dancing garb? No? You haven't lived! So in conclusion, if you're dancing is not good enough to do in the streets in autumn, spring or winter, you shouldn't do it in the streets just because its summer. Thats why god invented wasps, to keep morris dancers indoors. P.S. In almost poetic circularity, morris dancers dance the way they do because god invented wasps.
.................MY FELLOW COMIC, ANDY KIND, who i've gigged with more times than i can remember, has had his first book published and its a cracking read. STAND UP AND DELIVER is a very witty and honest account of his first year as a newbie on the comedy circuit and his story mirrors mine and i imagine every comics first year with its triumphs and agonies, ecstasy and disillusionment perfectly illustrated. Its also laugh out loud funny and if you ever wondered what possesses the reasonably sane to try and stranger still, persevere at stand up this is the book for you.
.................HAWORTH OLD HALL had a brilliant opening night. A cheery and sold out crowd saw STE PORTER, SAM HARLAND and GREG COOK all storm it in a perfect evening of comedy. Looking forward to the next one already. In other wishing-my-life-away news, i get to play my spiritual home of Donington (for the rock festival) on thursday 9th june. Which leaves me the rest of that weekend to get pissed and watch some of my favourite bands. Can't wait.
.................HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE THAT LONGHIRST HALL, in Morpeth is the newest addition to the FTT family of gigs. Already on with booking their opening night which falls on...APRIL FOOLS DAY! You couldn't plan that sort of thing (except we did of course). I'm already looking forward to this.
.................GREAT NEWS! Coopers Comedy in Guiseley is sold out two weeks in advance. So we'll be going monthly with it this year with februarys already booked with the wonderful Seymour Mace to close. Also Sale has booked another for april and the brilliant Archie Kelly is headlining that gig which is always a sell out too. Good times.
.................WHAT A DREAM BOOKING THAT WAS. Three nights at Huddersfields Lawrence Batley Theatre. Really nice, awesome and awesome in that order. Wednesday and thursday felt more like closing than going on first. Loved it. And i have a new bit of material that sits with the very best i've ever written. This is good news. Onwards and... oh who am i kidding, its just onwards but that'll do for me thank you kindly. Merry christmas, happy new year and see you in 2011
.................BEEN HAVING SOME CRACKING GIGS LATELY, Surrey, Furness Vale and my own Coopers Bar which was sold out for the first time last night. Next one there is booked for january and its nice to see so many of the people from the first few gigs back there. We must be doing something right. WOOP!
.................ANOTHER GREAT NIGHT OF COMEDY AT COOPERS in guiseley. That gig has the potential to be one of the best nights around, that room is perfect, the management really want it to work, both nights have been great and the punters have been lovely, we just need a few more of them for the next one which we'll be booking for next month. Stay tuned for more deets this week.
